Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a dry mouth after taking the antibiotic Zithromax Tri pack for three days last month for strep throat.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. Dryness of mouth and tongue after an episode of throat infections such as pharyngitis are common due to dysfunction of salivary glands during recovery. Another reason for such dysfunction is associated with acid reflux disorder. However, photo does not show any significant abnormalities in the tongue or pharynx. This is likely due to impaired saliva production, which generally recovers in a month or two. You can take vitamin C, citrus fruits such as oranges, and drink plenty of water. If available, take tablet Pan 40 mg (Pantoprazole) once daily before food for ten days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
