Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had my tooth extracted, and it is still sore, and in the extraction site, it is black. I hope it is not a dry socket. Please help me by explaining the healing process.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Inside the mouth, the blood clot may seem yellowish-white or red, so it is a normal healing procedure. The wound is adequately healing if there is no severe pain or bad smell. You must not touch the wound with anything and allow the wound to heal for a week. In dry socket condition, you will have severe pain, and a foul smell would come due to infection inside the wound and loss of whole blood clot. Use warm salt water gargle twice a day for a week, and it helps prevent infection and faster healing.

I hope the information will help you.

Thank you.
