Can a surgical procedure to remove the outgrowth inside the ear canal cause ear membrane damage and permanent hearing loss?

Hello doctor,

I started having ear bleeding after my doctor pulled what he thought was some outgrowth inside my ear canal. How do I know that he was not pulling my ear membrane? I was able to hear about 60 % before going to the doctor, and now I can hardly hear (only about 10 percent) on the left side of my ear. I also have ear pain. I am on strong antibiotics and pain medication, Ibuprofen 800 mg, and waiting for an ENT doctor appointment. I was so nervous that the doctor damaged my ear membrane, fearing permanent hearing loss. Can you please help? Thank you.
