Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am inquiring about the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy persisting for four months. My last sexual encounter occurred five months ago, during which I used protection and took the morning-after pill. Despite this, my period has been absent for several months. I eventually started taking Deviry and experienced bleeding. Just a month ago, I had a regular period. Furthermore, a pregnancy lab test indicated a result of less than 2.0. My anxiety has been increasing. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

If you have had a menstrual period, it indicates no pregnancy, including ectopic pregnancy (a serious medical condition that occurs when a fertilized egg grows outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube). There is typically no menstrual or withdrawal bleeding in both normal and ectopic pregnancies. Since you have experienced bleeding, it suggests there is no pregnancy. However, considering your description of irregular periods, I suggest you undergo a pelvic ultrasound (USG), a thyroid profile test, and a complete blood count (CBC) to rule out any underlying pathology. This will help us determine the appropriate treatment to regulate your periods.

I hope this helps.
