How can my mom manage her eczema at 64 years of age?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My 64-year-old mom has developed a skin condition that looks like eczema. It causes itching that spreads across her right hand, left hand, and neck area. The issue started three weeks ago. She uses Aveeno and Curel body lotion.

Please advise.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

It is allergic dermatitis. Please answer a few questions.

  • Is she having any other medical issues?
  • Did she have any contact with plants or insects?

Since the hands and neck are the only exposed areas, it should be due to any exogenous allergen. I have a few suggestions for her.

  • Take Tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg daily at night for seven days.
  • Use Momate-F Cream (Mometasone and Fusidic acid) for local application twice daily, only on the rash, for seven days.
  • She can apply Venusia Max (Propylene glycol, emulsifying wax, glycerin, Cyclomethicone, shea butter, aloe butter, mango butter, cocoa butter) lotion on the whole body daily immediately after bath. Consult with a specialist doctor, talk with him or her, and take medicines with their consent.

Please answer the questions for further assistance.

Thank you.

Treatment plan

Please use the suggested medication after consulting your doctor.

Regarding follow up

Please follow up after one week.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

How do I get above the prescribed medication?

Please advise.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You can easily get these medications at any pharmacy. I have also mentioned the composition, so if the exact same medicine is not available, you can buy alternatives with the same composition.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
