Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am five feet two inches and 171 pounds and taking Crestor. I had intercourse on the night of my 15th day of the cycle using the withdrawal method, and the next day early morning (day 16 of the cycle), I felt the ovulation pain. I took four pills of Zahra (same contains as Yasmin) 12 hours after intercourse then again after 12 hours. My period is regular 27 to 28 days. What are the chances of pregnancy? Anything else I can do to prevent it?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You had followed the withdrawal method. Secondly, you had taken emergency pills within 12 hours. You had taken maximum precautions, which we can do. Further, do take precautions of having safe intercourse during this cycle also. You had felt ovulation pain, but it is not a confirmatory sign. Many times ovulation is a retrograde diagnosis and confirm after you get your period or getting pregnant. Drink more water. The chances of getting pregnant are less than 5 to 10 percent. We cannot be sure as you have taken pills and felt pain around the same time. And now what we can do is to wait for some days. Do a urine pregnancy test after 20 to 25 days from intercourse. You may get delayed menses or irregular menses, so we cannot take menses as a pregnancy failure. If the test comes negative, then we are on the winning side. Keep in mind that the periods can get disturbed after emergency pills, and most of the time, receive regular within one or two-cycle. Hopefully, you got your answers. Feel free to ask if any queries. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor.

I have no appetite, but have nausea. I think this is all because of anxiety and worrying about the failure of methods used. Anything I can do to induce endometrial shedding?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If pregnancy happens, then it will not let your endometrium to shed. Vomiting or nausea may be due to the emergency medicines which were taken. I t will be decreasing over two to three days. Now we have to wait and watch for symptoms. Do not worry. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
