Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am currently on tablets Biphentin, Olanzapine, and Nozen. Recently I had an erection that lasted for about four hours. After that, I had difficulties with my erection. Are there any home remedies to help erectile dysfunction?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. If the erection remains for three to four hours, this is an emergency because prolonged erection damages the tissues inside the penis. Erectile dysfunction usually occurs at the age of 40 to 50. In young males, erectile dysfunction is usually due to physical inactivity, hyperlipidemia, alcohol, smoking, and too much stress, anxiety, antidepressants, antipsychotics, diabetes, hypertension, venous leak. There are two main types of erectile dysfunction. One is psychogenic due to a sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy food, stress, anxiety, mental disturbance, etc. The other type is organic, in which there is an underlying disease. Treatment involves behavioral changes, lifestyle changes, and certain medications. Even surgical options can be used if all other options fail.

I suggest you to follow a few instructions mentioned below.

  1. Take an L-Arginine sachet once in the afternoon after a meal for three months.
  2. Avoid smoking, alcohol, fast food, and carbonated drinks.
  3. Exercise daily for 30 minutes.
  4. Eat fruits and vegetables.
  5. Eat egg daily.
  6. Drink one glass of milk daily.
  7. Check for serum TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), serum testosterone, serum prolactin, doppler ultrasound penis with Caverject, HbA1c (hemoglobin A1c), and fasting lipid profile.
  8. Avoid self medications.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take medications with their consent.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
