Hello doctor,

I struggle with losing my erection midway through sex, and I believe it may be due to my past addiction to pornography. If

I have stopped watching porn. How long might it take to overcome this issue?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern regarding your symptoms.

Pornography can be one of the contributing factors to your issue. Based on your complaints, you may be experiencing erectile dysfunction (ED). Possible causes of erectile dysfunction are:

  1. Stress due to work, family responsibilities, or irregular sleep (due to night shifts).
  2. Depression.
  3. Fear of failure. Experiencing ED once can create anxiety, leading to further episodes.
  4. Low self-esteem (excessive masturbation).
  5. Religious or societal constraints affect sexual confidence.
  6. Negative attitude towards your partner.
  7. Varicocele (can be diagnosed through a scrotal ultrasound).
  8. Hormonal imbalances like thyroid disorders, low testosterone, or high prolactin levels.
  9. Chronic illnesses like cardiac disease, thyroid disorders, kidney disease, or any other condition requiring long-term medication.
  10. Nutritional deficiencies.
  11. Long-term drug use.
  12. Diabetes and hypertension.
  13. Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.
  14. Homosexuality, if you are not naturally attracted to the opposite sex, it may affect arousal.

To identify the root cause, consider undergoing the following tests:

  1. Doppler ultrasound of the penis.
  2. Pelvic and scrotal ultrasound.
  3. Blood pressure monitoring.
  4. Random blood sugar (RBS).
  5. Free T3 (triiodothyronine), T4 (thyroxine), and TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone).
  6. Testosterone levels.

The treatment plan includes regular exercise like Kegels, squats, yoga, running, or brisk walking (at least five minutes daily and a well-balanced diet. For improved performance in different sexual positions:

  1. Missionary: Planks, push-ups, mountain climbers, and glute bridges.
  2. Standing positions: Bicep curls, pull-ups, and jump squats.
  3. Doggy style: Jump squats and walking lunges.
  4. Cowgirl (woman on top): Glute bridges and leg raises.

Incorporate these foods into your diet to improve sexual health:

  1. Fruits, like strawberries, apples, and avocados.
  2. Vegetables: Sweet potatoes.
  3. Nuts and seeds: Sesame seeds and almonds.
  4. Others: Garlic and dark chocolate in moderation.

For short-term relief, I suggest you take the tablet Tadalafil, 5 milligrams twice a day. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
