Hi doctor,

I cannot bear sweat in summer and fear going out during summer. I am also suffering from anxiety and depression. Please tell me, why is this happening to me?.

I understand your concern.

You may have a somatic symptom disorder. There is non-pharmacological management for you, and you should follow the guidelines below to deal with it. It will help you.

  1. It would help if you exercised 30 to 45 minutes daily, like at least going for a walk. It will uplift your mood.
  2. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily, sit in one place in a comfortable position, and try to concentrate on your normal breathing, do not stop or force yourself to control your thoughts. It will relax you and help you to deal with your somatization.
  3. You should eat healthy home-cooked foods and avoid junk foods. You must drink enough water.
  4. You should spend quality time with friends and family daily or do video calls if you are living away from your family. It would help if you spent time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.
  5. You should take enough seven to eight hours of sleep daily. It would help if you avoided tobacco or alcohol, or any substance abuse.
  6. It is fine if you do not go out in summer. Many people do not tolerate heat in summer.
