What are the ways to get rid of painful rashes on lips?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My lips have been breaking out in painful rashes, though I am not sure exactly what it is. My lips' secret oil forms a yellow crust around the outline of my lips. After suffering from this on and off for a year and a half, I suspect it may be cheilitis. My lips are in burning pain, severely affecting my quality of life. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I hope you are 21 years of age as in the details given. Your condition may be due to cheilitis. The causes may be allergies, irritation, infection, dryness, actinic deficiencies, etc. I suggest you avoid licking your lips often. As you are following, please avoid lipsticks that may exacerbate or worsen it. You can use moisturizing creams or vaseline gel, which you are comfortable with. Have a balanced diet and a good amount of water. You can take vitamin supplements, including vitamins B, C, and Zinc. If you have iron deficiency, please take them too. Avoid dryness, irritation, allergens, or irritant foods. Check if you have recently changed any dentures or toothpaste. Check if there are any sun allergies or drug allergies. Maintain good oral hygiene. Check if it is due to any infections like herpes or fungi. You can get back with clear photos and any other relevant details. Consult your doctor if it does not subside for further evaluation, examination, investigations, and management.
Thank you.

Hello doctor,
Thank you so much for your reply. It is very insightful, and I appreciate it. I have attached a picture from when I woke up in the morning, and my lips feel exceptionally stiff, itchy, and burning. The sides of my lips hurt, and it now seems they have slightly opened as minor paper cuts.
