Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I do not usually have pimples, but I began to get pimples ever since I started using vitamins C and E skin lotion. Now I switched to other lotion and soap, but the problem worsens. My face appears rough. What lotion can I use to get a fair face?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Stress, hormonal imbalances, diet, and weather all play a role in acne. Acne may also flare due to oily, greasy creams or sunscreens that one may be using. I suggest you keep your skin as clean as possible without over-drying it and use a gentle cleanser, face wash, or cleansing lotion rather than using soaps. For active acne, I suggest you take the tablet Doxycycline or Azithromycin, or Minocycline. They may be continued for four to 12 weeks, depending on the severity of acne and the response to treatment. After that, consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent. I suggest you use a topical retinoid Adapalene gel. Since acne is recurrent and varies from one individual to the other, you should continue with the topical retinoids because they are comedolytic and anti-inflammatory and prevent the formation of new acne.
