Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Last week I went for a regular checkup and an ultrasound. Reports suggested I have fatty liver. My symptoms include:

  1. Uncomfortable feeling on the right side of the abdomen.
  2. Loose stools for two months and I go to washroom three times a day.

Please suggest a treatment. Do I need to worry about the fatty liver?

I have attached my ultrasound reports.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Fatty liver is a condition in which large vacuoles containing fat accumulate in the liver. It remains asymptomatic most of the time and present as a result of an investigation.

  1. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fat embolism (rare), jaundice, etc.
  2. Causes include alcohol, pregnancy, malnutrition, drugs, high-fat diet, etc.
  3. Once a fatty liver is diagnosed, one should be alert towards the health situation.
  4. Strictly start lifestyle modification that includes eating healthy food that contains no junk food, high in fiber, lentils, cereals, beans, fruits, vegetables, etc.
  5. Exercise regularly and strictly avoid a sedentary lifestyle.

All these measures are taken to prevent from the further progression of diseases like gall stones, liver or gall bladder inflammatory lesions, hepatic carcinoma, etc. For further investigation, kindly do a liver function test (LFT).

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
