How to manage symptoms like fever, cough, and weakness?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have symptoms like an occasional fever that occurs two to three times a day and throat problems, because of which I can barely speak, cough, and feel weakness. I have been taking Dolo 650 mg for fever. I took Azithromycin 500 mg for three days, which was of little help.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Your symptoms were suggestive of acute laryngitis. It is an infectious condition. I suggest you consult an otorhinolaryngologist for a detailed evaluation and indirect laryngoscopy.

I advise you to do the following:

  1. You should be prescribed decongestants like low-dose steroids for five days.

  2. Steam inhalation done three times a day with lukewarm water is beneficial.

  3. Take one tablespoon (tsp) of turmeric powder with milk daily.

  4. You can complete the prescribed antibiotics course.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take proper guidance.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
