Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 57 year old male. I was down with fever since yesterday. My fever is ranging between 101 to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Along with fever, I have body ache and some rashes on my face. Yesterday, my platelet count was 1 lakh. Today, in CBC the platelets 1.25 lakhs, RBC 4.47 and lymphocytes 16. Last year, I was tested positive for dengue. I am taking Paracetamol, vitamin medicine and an anti-allergic as recommended by the doctor.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I have reviewed your health concern and understand the presence of a rash accompanied by a high fever. It is advisable to consult a physician at the earliest to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. There are various potential causes for fever with rash and low platelet counts, like dengue, rickettsial fever, leptospirosis, and malaria, among others. Prompt diagnosis is crucial, as certain conditions can deteriorate rapidly. While the likelihood of dengue may be low due to prior immunity after infection, it is still worth investigating. Meanwhile, ensure you stay well-hydrated, consume fruit juices, and take Paracetamol 500 mg three times a day, along with Pantodac 40 mg (Pantoprazole) twice daily before meals for five days. Should you experience any bleeding, abdominal pain, breathlessness, or reduced urine output, seek immediate medical attention. Considering the situation, it is advisable to revisit your doctor and consider hospitalization for a thorough evaluation of your condition.

I hope that this answers your query.

Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
