Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter, 18 years old, is suffering from a fever for the last four days and reached up to 103.8. She is having vomiting after any intake. After getting Widal test, her typhi H result shows 1 ratio to 160. Earlier, eight years back, she suffered from viral hepatitis. From yesterday, now she has been given Taxim OF TDS and Metrogyl 400 mg TDS, PCM TDS and for vomiting Ondem MD (Ondansetron). However, now fever is not going to higher ranges but vomiting is not stopping. Please see and advice.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

She is suffering from typhoid (attachment removed to protect patient identity). She is on treatment with Cefixime and Ofloxacin. It is enough. But the temperature is too high and is above the Paracetamol range. Another NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) should be used along with Paracetamol to control temperature.

Coming to vomiting, typhoid has one main complication, that is, it causes typhoid ulceration in GIT which causes mostly diarrhea and vomiting. You can continue but replace Ondem. The antibiotics need at least five doses and if the temperature is not regressing, then consider changing antibiotics or add third-generation Cephalosporin.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
