Patient's Query

Hello sir,

I am 24 years old. Two years ago, I used Finasteride 1 mg for three months, and after that, I noticed that my sexual urge had declined and my erection stopped. I needed constant stimulation to stay erect. The pleasure during ejaculation is not as good as before, and I think my testes have shrunk a little. I still have morning erections, but not as good as before. I am concerned about what might cause this. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I can provide general information about Finasteride and its potential side effects.

Finasteride is a medication used to treat male pattern baldness and enlarged prostate. It works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which can help prevent hair loss and shrink an enlarged prostate. Some men report side effects related to sexual function while taking Finasteride, including decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and decreased semen volume. These side effects are more common with higher doses of finasteride, such as 5 mg per day, which is sometimes prescribed for treating enlarged prostates.

It is possible that the side effects you are experiencing could be related to Finasteride use. Finasteride has been associated with decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and decreased semen volume in some men. It is possible that the side effects you experienced while taking Finasteride 1 mg per day were related to the medication. The good news is that these side effects are generally reversible once you stop taking the medication. It may take several months for your sexual function to return to normal after stopping finasteride. In the meantime, it may be helpful to focus on other factors that can affect sexual function, such as stress management, regular exercise, and a healthy diet.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take the medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
