Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I need an MRI of my right ankle evaluated by an orthopedic specialist. I have pain on the inside of my right ankle for about two months now. From the inner heel (center) upwards, the pain is on the inside. I do not remember having any considerable swelling if any. The pain has not gone away. It has produced muscular pain in my shin area as well. I assume from not being able to walk properly on that foot. I am flat-footed.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
People with flat foot usually develop such a problem later in life and in addition, there is dysfunction of the posterior tibial tendon which adds to your problem. It would be really helpful if you can tell more details about your symptoms like is it more on walking, if yes then is it more on an even surface or uneven surface. For now, go for conservative management. Do intrinsic foot muscle exercises, hot fomentation, and painkillers on SOS basis. When your problem is increased beyond your tolerance and hampering your daily routine then diagnostic injection can be given in joints of foot one by one to look for the main culprit and then it can be surgically fused.
