Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a problem in the center of my foot, extending to the heel, that hurts when walking and even when lying down. Sometimes I limp when trying to walk.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your symptoms so clearly. I understand how uncomfortable and concerning ongoing foot pain can be, especially when it starts to interfere with daily activities.
Experiencing pain in this area can be frustrating, as it can affect mobility, work routines, and overall quality of life.
Based on your symptoms of pain in the center of your foot extending toward the heel, especially when walking or even lying down, you may be experiencing plantar fasciitis.
This condition is caused by inflammation of the thick band of tissue (plantar fascia) that runs along the bottom of the foot and connects the heel bone to the toes.
Plantar fasciitis commonly causes stabbing or aching pain, particularly with the first steps in the morning or after periods of rest, and may lead to limping. Contributing factors include prolonged standing, walking on hard surfaces, improper footwear, obesity, or recent changes in physical activity.
Treatment usually involves rest, ice application, stretching exercises for the foot and calf, arch supports or orthotic insoles, and anti-inflammatory medications like Ibuprofen (if there are no contraindications).
If symptoms persist or worsen despite these measures, consult a podiatrist for further evaluation and possible imaging, such as an X-ray or ultrasound, to rule out heel spurs or other conditions.
I hope this addresses your concerns.
Thanks and regards.
