Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 26-year-old male. I have a burning sensation in the penis. Symptoms are there for the last two days. I had a frenulum tear 50 days back during a sexual act. I have not participated in any since then. I feel like I have a urine infection. There is no other sensation apart from a burning feel. What is the normal time to allow healing after a frenulum tear? I have started taking Augmentin 625 mg since today. Kindly help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Frenulum tear would heal completely within three months as the wound in the skin takes about seven days to close and three months for complete strength. The burning sensation would be due to infection. Urine culture is important, and according to the result sensitivity, an antibiotic should be used. STD (sexually transmitted disease) screen is indicated as well as you got previous sexual intercourse. STD screen is a urethral swab for gonococcal and chlamydial infections. If you got any discharge not required if no discharge. In addition, you need blood tests for syphilis, HSV (herpes simplex virus), hepatitis B and C, and HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). Since you started Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid), please continue for seven days. And do not masturbate or stretch the skin in order to get complete healing.

Please follow up with the test results and update me about your condition.

I hope this was helpful.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
