Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your complaints and reviewed the attached photograph (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

It is tinea, which is a superficial fungal infection of the skin. You need to take oral and topical antifungals. If I were your treating doctor, I would recommend you take tablet Terbinafine 250 mg twice daily and apply Luliconazole cream on the affected area once daily.

For itching, take the tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg twice daily. These need to be continued for four weeks. These are prescription drugs and should be taken under the supervision of a doctor. Also, keep the area dry and clean, avoid sharing of soaps and towels, stay in a cool, airy environment, and wear loose-fitting cotton clothes.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer.

Revert in case you have any other doubts.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I am pregnant. So these medicines are fine to take now?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have read your query.

You do not have to take oral antifungal medicines in pregnancy. You can apply Luliconazole cream on the affected areas once daily and take an antihistaminic like tablet Chlorpheniramine Maleate 4 mg once daily at bedtime for itching. Continue this for two weeks and revert.

I hope it helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have now developed another rash on my feet. I am attaching the images.

  1. Could you please tell me what this is?
  2. Can I use the same cream for this as well?

Kindly assist.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed the attached photograph (attachment removed to protect patient identity), and it also looks like a ringworm infection.

You can apply the same cream (Luliconazole) on it as well. If associated with itching, take an antihistaminic tablet, Chlorpheniramine Maleate 4 mg once daily at bedtime. These medicines are safe in pregnancy.

Just wanted to ask you whether this rash is present on one foot or both feet?

I hope it helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

It is present in both feet. It keeps coming back but clears up on its own.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I wanted to ask

  1. Why does it keep coming back to the same spot?
  2. Is it because I do not treat it with any cream or medicines?

Kindly assist.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have read your query.

It is looking like tinea most likely. It will recur at the same spot if you are not using any medicines for it. Apply Luliconazole cream once daily for two weeks. If it does not improve, the other possibility is eczema.

I hope it helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you, doctor, for the reply.

The itch on the bikini line and feet is now under control. However, I feel like my entire legs are itching, even though there is no ring or rash. I am uncertain whether it is psychological or if there is an underlying issue.

Could you please suggest what I should do?

Kindly assist.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have read your query.

It is common to experience itching during pregnancy. I would recommend applying a moisturizing lotion to your entire legs twice daily. Additionally, use mild soap for bathing. Avoid wearing tight clothes and opt for cotton garments. Make sure to stay in a cool and airy environment and avoid consuming spicy foods. I would like to know how many weeks pregnant you are.

Please let me know if I can help you further.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

I am five weeks pregnant, doctor, but my gynecologist told me that itching would typically start in the second trimester. I have started using moisturizer for now. I also have hypothyroidism; could it be related to that?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have read your query.

Yes, itching in pregnancy typically starts later in pregnancy. Hypothyroidism could be a cause of itching. Remember to keep your body moisturized. Instead of a moisturizer, consider using a paraffin-based lotion.

I hope it helps.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you, doctor, for the reply.

I have attached an image. After scratching the area, it turns red, either in the form of lines or as a red patch.

  1. Should I be concerned about this?
  2. Is it anything serious?

Kindly assist.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed the attached photograph (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), and it does not appear to be anything serious. It is normal for the area to turn red when itching occurs. There is no need to worry.

Thank you for consulting me.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

I will try the lotion for a couple of days and provide you with an update. Interestingly, I am starting to feel itchy just by discussing itchiness!

Patient's Query

Thank you, doctor, for the reply.

The itching has become quite unbearable. My friend has frightened me by suggesting that itching could be a symptom of Lymphoma. I actually had a complete blood count (CBC) done last month, and it was within the normal range.

  1. Should I have another CBC done now?
  2. Is the itching something I should be seriously concerned about?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have read your query.

Itching is a common symptom in various skin conditions, such as dry skin, eczema, pregnancy pruritus, and systemic disorders. Lymphoma is a very rare cause of itching. Please do not worry or stress too much about it. There is no need to repeat the CBC at this time.

I hope it helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

I will continue applying the cream and will provide an update in a week.
