What measures should be taken to increase body weight?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 21 years old. My body weight is 110.2 lbs only. What can I do to increase my body weight?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

It is advisable to calculate your body mass index (BMI).

If your BMI falls within range 20-25 then no need to gain weight.

However, to increase weight you can eat more fatty foods and a more protein diet. Muscle building with active exercise and a more protein diet will be beneficial in increasing weight and maintaining the shape of the body.

You can do the gym under the guidance of a good trainer.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take proper guidance.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
