Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am having stage 1 hypertension and high cholesterol levels. I also have gallstones. I developed a warming pain in or around the center right rib. I decided to take water with apple cider vinegar and cayenne red pepper inside to help dissolve the stones, and then I also took dandelion leaf tea. I did that for a week, and then I stopped consuming tea. Now, I take a cup of peppermint tea occasionally. The warming pain has improved a lot, but I get pain often, typically after eating or drinking something. I also noticed a dull sensation in my back on the right side. It normally happens after I wake up in the morning and it eases after a bowel movement. Can this be due to the passing of the stones? I have ordered chanca piedra online. I would like to pass these gallstones without undergoing surgery to remove my gallbladder. Is it ok to take the chance piedra, and how long will it take to pass these stones? It has been a couple of weeks already. Kindly give your suggestions.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. Gallstones are treated conservatively if there is no pain. But, recurring pain means that there is inflammation, and removal of the gall bladder is essential according to the guidelines. The decision also depends on the number and size of the largest gallstones. The herbs could help reduce the gall bladder contractions, which relieves the pain but does not help remove the stones. Moreover, there are possible hazards if the stones get trapped in the main biliary duct because it could cause pancreatitis, jaundice, or infection. I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
