Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My 4.5-year-old son has been experiencing severe vomiting and tummy pain for the past 5 days. Before that, he had a cough and a sore throat. His pancreas and liver test results show significantly high levels. Please advise on the diagnosis and what to do. I started him on medication, but after 2 days, I stopped because he had no fever.

Hi doctor,

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I understand your concern.

Based on the information you have provided, it is possible that your son is experiencing symptoms of gastroenteritis, which is an infection or inflammation of the stomach and intestines. The vomiting and abdominal pain could be a result of this infection. The elevated levels of liver and pancreas enzymes could be a sign of inflammation in those organs, which is sometimes seen in cases of gastroenteritis. It is also possible that the cough and sore throat your son had before the vomiting and abdominal pain could be related. Some viruses, such as the norovirus, can cause both gastroenteritis and respiratory symptoms. In either case, it is important to consult with a healthcare provider for a thorough evaluation and treatment plan. They may recommend medication to help manage your son's symptoms, such as antiemetics to control the vomiting, and may also recommend rehydration solutions to help prevent dehydration. In some cases, hospitalization may be necessary to monitor your son's condition and provide intravenous fluids. It is also important to practice good hygiene, such as washing your hands frequently and avoiding close contact with others who may be sick, to help prevent the spread of infection.

I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Thank you.
