Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had GERD for a few years now. I have had a few tests and all seem okay. I had an endoscopy done two years ago. I take Nexium once. Every now and then I have a bout of more noticeable GERD symptoms and it lasts for about a week and does not matter what I take it does not help. I am not sure if it is actually a stomach irritation like gastritis or just stress as I am dealing with a lot of stress right now. Is it something serious?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are having occasional GERD, which is aggravated by stress. Stress usually aggravates GERD symptoms. This is not a gastric issue, it is purely GERD. Whenever your symptoms aggravate then take tablet Nexium (Esomeprazole) twice daily for one week and it will help out. As far as your concern about Barrett, so as your endoscopy was normal two years back then you do not need to worry, as a repeat endoscopy is not needed in such cases for the next 5 to 10 years. You are more worried, which is also making your symptoms worse.

I hope this has helped you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
