Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

What happened to me was horrible; after experiencing gonorrhea, I immediately suffered from prostatitis. What could possibly have gone wrong in my treatment? The medications I received for gonorrhea treatment were Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day for one week, Ceftriaxone sodium 500 mg injection, and then Doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 17 days. However, after that, my follow-up treatment revealed that my white blood cell count was high once again, and a KUB (kidney, ureter, and bladder) ultrasound showed I had an enlarged prostate. The urologist diagnosed me with prostatitis, and I am currently taking three types of food supplements for three months to shrink my prostate size. The conducted lab tests include a Gram stain three months ago, and now, a KUB plus prostate ultrasound along with a uroflowmetry test, CBC (complete blood count), and urinalysis. The current medication regimen consists of three food supplements, which have been taken for nearly three months to address prostatitis. What might have gone wrong in the gonorrhea treatment that led to my current condition of prostatitis?

Hi,

We welcome you to icliniq family.

I appreciate the confidence you place in me for your healthcare consultation.

I do understand your concern. It appears to be gonococcal urethritis, which is an infectious sexually transmitted infection. To arrive at a definitive diagnosis and provide you with guidance, please answer the following questions:

  1. Is there inflammation of the glans?
  2. Do you experience redness?
  3. Are there any itching or burning sensations?
  4. Do you have itchy genitals?
  5. Is there a profuse urethral discharge?

Please reply with this information.

Looking forward to your response in order to help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Yes, I had those symptoms three months ago during the onset of my gonorrhea symptoms. However, today I no longer have gonorrhea symptoms; they have all ceased. It is possible that the infection was cured. I am just curious about what might have gone wrong with my treatment and antibiotic medicine for gonorrhea. After the gonorrhea treatment, I was diagnosed with prostatitis by a urologist. I developed some symptoms of prostatitis, and the ultrasound test revealed an enlarged prostate with a post-void residual of 1.91 fluid ounces (56.4 ml) urine in the bladder. I am currently taking three food supplement medications for three months to address prostatitis , as prescribed by my urologist. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Glad to have you back!

I am here to help you get the best medical advice.

I understand your concern.

Good to know that you have no symptoms at present. It appears to be a minor urinary tract infection. I recommend repeating the urine culture and sensitivity tests after three months. I suggest you take 0.101 ounces of syrup Cital (Disodium hydrogen citrate) twice daily for seven days. If possible, attach a clinical image so that we can arrive at a definitive diagnosis and provide further guidance.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at icliniq.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
