The gums on the back of my mouth turned white and puffy, and the left side of the tonsil also hurt. I am unable to eat solid foods because the gum pain is severe. I am taking Clavam-XR and Phytoflam-D. Kindly help.

Thank you for the reply.
Pain and swelling symptoms first appeared two days ago at night. I saw the dentist yesterday, and he recommended taking Clavam. I took Clavam twice in only one day. I experienced comparable discomfort last year, but it was not quite as bad as now, and the doctor gave me some antibiotics then, too, and it went away in a few days. However, now that work has resumed, I need to reduce the swelling as soon as possible. Can you recommend anything else? Kindly help.

Yes, the infection will come down in three days. You probably have an unerupted or partially erupted wisdom tooth which might be causing you so much flare-up and inflammation. I am prescribing you these tablets by composition, your local brand may vary, but you can procure the same and continue this antibiotic prophylaxis for three days. I hope you do not have any antibiotic allergies because you need to take them now. The infection looks severe. You can also try rinsing your mouth with Chlorhexidine gluconate mouthwash twice a day for three months and consider lukewarm salt water rinsing a couple of times a week. The more lukewarm rinsing you do, the less the white lesions will stop aggravating further. I suggest you take the following:
- Amoxicillin 500 mg + Clavulanic acid 125 mg, twice daily, one tablet after breakfast and another after dinner.
- Metronidazole 400 mg after breakfast and dinner twice a day.
- Etoricoxib 60 mg + Paracetamol 325 mg one after breakfast, and another after dinner.
- Domperidone 30 mg + Pantoprazole 40 mg (half an hour before food).
You can start with the antibiotic and painkiller prophylaxis now. In general, can you notice any decayed tooth, or is your pain and swelling in the end of the jaw where the third molar or the white patch-like lesion is present?
