Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 37-year-old female. I am suffering from an H3N2 infection and have been admitted to the hospital. Will this infection spread to my family members as my kids are residing with me? How many days will be taken to get cured? Do we have any vaccination against this infection to protect us from getting this infection?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. The H3N2 influenza virus is a type of flu virus that can cause respiratory illness in humans. It is possible for the virus to spread from person to person through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. To prevent the spread of the virus to your family members, it is important to practice good respiratory hygiene, such as covering your nose and mouth with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing and washing your hands frequently with soap and water. Wearing a mask while in close contact with others can also help prevent the spread of the virus.

The duration of the illness can vary depending on the severity of the infection and individual factors. In general, symptoms may last for about a week to 10 days. Treatment may involve antiviral medications, such as Oseltamivir or Zanamivir, to help reduce the severity and duration of symptoms.

There is a vaccine available for seasonal influenza, which includes protection against the H3N2 strain. Getting vaccinated is the most effective way to prevent influenza infection. It is recommended that individuals who are at high risk of complications from influenza, including children, older adults, and individuals with certain medical conditions, get vaccinated each year.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
