Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have used a hair straightener, and after two days, I am having a lot of hairfall. I am so upset. What should I do?

Please suggest some treatment for my hairfall.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I suggest you stop using the hair straightener and take oral hair nutrient pills containing Biotin, Calcium, Zinc, Pantothenate, which help to strengthen the hair.

I would like to give you some hair care tips here:

  • Always use luke warm water for washing the hair. Never use hot water.
  • Do not comb when the hair is wet.
  • Do not use hair dryer, allow it to dry naturally after bath.
  • Avoid hot iron straightners, it breaks the protein bond in hair, making the hair brittle.
  • Hair is made up of protein called keratin. You need to take more protein everyday, like eggs, fish, curd, milk, lentils, chicken.
  • Regular exercise for 40 minutes a day, six days a week, to keep hormonal balance intact.
  • Use a comb which has wide space between each tooth and the tip of the tooth should be blunt. Comb gently.
  • Avoid smoking. Nicotine decreases blood supply to the hair roots, affecting the hair growth.
  • Avoid tight pony, it would cause traction on hair, eventually leading to hair fall from the frontal area. Keep the hair loosely tied.
  • Hope this information is helpful for you.

    Take care.

    Thank you.
