Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am facing severe hair fall, and the hair is growing very slowly. Please suggest a treatment for speeding up hair growth. Also, please suggest a good facial serum and cream for puffy eyes and face.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

Hair fall may occur due to multiple factors, including genetic susceptibility, wherein there is a similar condition that runs within the family and gets transmitted genetically. Hair fall may also occur due to hormonal imbalances especially seen in females suffering from PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), which is a gynecological condition that requires a consultation with a gynecologist in order to rule out the same. Other causes of hair loss include climate changes, stress, excessive sweating, seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, use of any hair care products, including creams, gels, smoothening and straightening agents, as well as hair colors. Hair fall may also occur due to the usage of any medications for any underlying medical conditions. Also, it can occur due to dietary factors and vitamin and mineral deficiency.

I suggest you the following instructions mentioned below,

1. Take blood tests including CBC (complete blood ccount), Hb (hemoglobin), S. ferritin (serum ferritin), serum iron, serum vitamin D3, serum Vitamin B12, FAI (femoroacetabular impingement test), and TFT (thyroid function tests). These tests will help detect vitamin or mental deficiency and hormonal fluctuations.

2. Take multivitamin supplements once daily after dinner for two months.

3. There are various procedures that are helpful in hair growth stimulation which does not have any side effects. These include platelet-rich plasma (PRP), growth factor concentrate (GFC), and mesotherapy. PRP or GFC treatments include using one's own blood by drawing around 10 to 12 milliliters of the blood and centrifuging them in a machine in order to activate the growth factor which is present within the platelets. This concentrate is then injected back onto the scalp using an insulin syringe and is usually done in six sessions every four weeks. This procedure may also be combined with mesotherapy, in which instead of blood, a solution consisting of vitamins and biotin is used for injection. When both procedures are combined, they are done in 15 days intervals. They are very beneficial for hair growth stimulation and reduce the chances of hair fall.

4. In case of seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff, I suggest you to apply antifungal lotion on the scalp. Mix one teaspoon of the lotion in one-third cup of water. The lather produced should be applied on the scalp. Massage for one minute, and leave it for three minutes on the scalp before washing it off.

Under-eye puffiness usually occurs due to stress, sleeplessness, the strain on the eyes, using computers, laptops, or mobile phones for a very long period of time, reading for long hours under dim light, allergic reactions within the body, exposure to any medications, food items, skin care products, etc. It is important to understand that once the cause of eye puffiness is eliminated, the puffiness in the eyes will be cleared.

1. Apply a good under-eye cream in that area daily in the morning and at night. Dab on the skin under the eye rather than applying pressure. It will help to reduce eye puffiness.

2. Try at-home remedies by applying ice wrapped in a towel daily in the morning and at night on the under-eye area. This will help in soothing as well as constricting the blood vessels which are present under the eye skin which helps in reducing the puffiness as well as discoloration under the eyes.

3. Take any good Vitamin C serum to increase the facial glow. Apply it on the face after using the face wash. Take four to five drops of the serum and apply it all over your face.

4. Apply a good facial moisturizer regularly in the morning and at night after using the serum for moisturization of the skin.

5. Apply a good sunscreen lotion with SPF (sun protection factor) 50 after the face cream to protect against harmful ultraviolet radiations. The effectiveness of the sunscreen reduces every two hours due to which it should be reapplied every two hours without washing off the face till evening.

6. Take a capsule of Evion (Vitamin E) 400 once daily at night after dinner for two months. This vitamin E capsule would help in reducing puffiness and increase the facial glow.

7. There are also procedures like chemical peeling, which can be done in the face. They are usually done every two weeks for six sessions. Glycolic acid chemical peels would be the best peeling agent that can be used for glowing skin. This procedure is done at a dermatologist's clinic and can be helpful for skin rejuvenation. Therefore, I request you consult a dermatologist in person to undergo the treatment.

For establishing glowing skin, reducing eye puffiness, and hair restoration, it is advised to always use the medication consistently over a period of few months in order to get the best results.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
