HomeAnswersDermatologyhairfallI have been having chronic hair fall along with painful bumps on the scalp. Why so?

What could be the reason for a painful bump on the scalp?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

It is been 9 years since I have been suffering from hair loss, I am 29 now. A lump kind of pimple will appear on the scalp which is very painful while touching. After a couple of days or so, hair starts to fall out from that area. No doubt, the hair keeps on growing after 5 to 6 months but the cycle of growth and fall continues. My eyebrow too falls out. Suggest me a good hair tonic and tablet.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen your query and concern.

It seems you have tinea capitis (kerion) type subsequent to which you developed hair fall. It is very important to start the following general measures.

  1. Stop oiling the scalp. Oil is food for the fungus.
  2. You can use a shampoo containing Ciclopirox olamine (antifungal).
  3. Apply to wet scalp and leave for two minutes and then rinse off. Continue it for a month with five times weekly shampooing.
  4. Apply Clotrimazole cream twice daily in the affected part for a month. Apply the cream slightly beyond the patch margin to cover invisible fungus in normal-looking skin too also use tablet Follihair once daily for three months.

Consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
