Why is the hair fall not reducing even after using Minoxidil?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been going through severe hair fall for the last five weeks. I went to a dermatologist, who prescribed Trigaine solution and anti-dandruff shampoo. But this is not helping me much. How do I cure this? I heard Biotin helps with hair loss. Does it have side effects?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Hairfall has many causes.

1. Genetic- If our parents have less hair, we also will have less hair.

2. Bathing using hard water- If the place you are residing has hard water, it is better to have a hair wash once a week using RO (reverse osmosis) water.

3. Severe stress - Less sleep and more tension causes increased hair loss. Exercise and yoga can help in such cases.

4. Poor nutrition- Nutrition with less proteins and vitamins can cause hair fall. One should have enough proteins every day, like one egg per day.

When using Trigaine (Minoxidil, Azelaic Acid, and Tretinoin), take an earbud and dip it with the solution and apply it to hair roots slowly every day. It takes an hour to do that. Yes, Biotin helps. It is just a vitamin. So no side effects. Many drugs are available in the market containing Biotin. It works slowly, though.

Regards.
