Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from chronic bad breath, and I do not know what to do. I brush, floss, and rinse twice daily, and I even scrape my tongue, but there is still a white coating on my tongue.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

If you have a white coating at the back of the tongue, it can be either due to lack of cleaning in that area due to inaccessibility or due to fungal infections causing thrush. I would suggest you get a clinical examination done by a dentist to check if it is thrush.

I suggest you take an antifungal medication like Nystatin mouthwash and Clotrimazole lozenges if it is a fungal infection. Along with it, plenty of probiotics like yogurt can relieve infection faster. You can use a soft toothbrush to clean the tongue. Drink lots of water.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
