Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I hit my head on my fridge about an hour ago. This left me with a bump in the back of my head and a slight headache. I am currently on Meclizine 25 mg, Amlodipine 5 mg, Metoprolol 25 mg and Zoloft 25 mg. I am wondering what to do. Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. I would like to know the following,
1) Did you get a bump on the back of your head?
2) What' the size? I mean, how big is it?.
3) A Bump or swelling alone is not enough to determine whether you need medical attention or not.
4) Monitor yourself for other symptoms.
Do you have any of the following symptoms,
1) Any loss of consciousness even for a few seconds?
2) Any nausea or vomiting tendency?
3) You mention there is a slight headache. Watch out for headache, which doesn't go away after taking a tablet like Paracetamol (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug)
4) Any altered mood or behavior?
5) Any change in balance and coordination?
6) Any vision difficulty?
The presence of the above symptoms may point towards internal head injury. It should seek medical care immediately if these don't appear right away but do see or visit the hospital directly in a day. You are taking two antihypertensive medicine. Have you checked blood pressure after the incident? I suggest seeing your doctor for the swelling.
For now, I would suggest the following:
1) Apply ice therapy over the swelling to reduce further swelling.
2) Tablet Paracetamol for the headache.
3) Monitor for any other symptoms if they appear.
I hope you find my reply helpful. Would you please reply to the above questions? Follow up if necessary.
Take care.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
The bump is not very big. I do not have any other symptoms. I have attached my old lab reports. Please advise
Thank you!
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thanks for the reply. Good to hear that you don't have any other symptoms now. Just monitor yourself for the signs mentioned above. Take rest, apply an ice pack, take a tablet of Paracetamol for now. Due to kidney problems, there are deranged kidney function parameters and low RBC (red blood cells) indices. I hope you are on treatment for that.
Thank you.
