Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 9-year-old son's weight seems higher than his classmates, although he is tall. He appears to be taller for his age. Is this normal or a cause for concern? What should be an appropriate diet for a child to maintain a healthy weight? Are there any recommended blood tests? While he used to eat a lot of biscuits, he has reduced his intake recently. Could you please provide a diet plan for my child? Please help.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

A diet plan is not feasible as your local food pattern is not available. The best rule to follow is to take half the quantity of food that he is taking now. Avoid or reduce sweet items and foods that grow underground like tapioca, a starchy substance extracted from the roots of the cassava plant. Avoid sweets and double the exercises, and he will be fine. This is a long-term plan. In a few weeks, you may not notice any visible changes. Long-term perseverance will have an effect.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Thank you.
