Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I went for a massage recently, and there was some sexual contact, but there was no penetration. It was just body touching, and my penis rubbed against her breasts, but there was no insertion. After that, I got tested for HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C at 30, 60, 90, and 150 days after the incident. I also got tested again just two months before, and all the tests came back negative. I have attached the reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Please take a look and kindly tell me about the report. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your history and the reports attached (attachment removed to protect patient identity). I can totally understand your anxiety. After such risky exposures, most patients have continuous doubts about HIV and often end up extensively searching on Google, which further confuses them. HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection has a window period of 12 weeks after the last exposure, during which the test results can be falsely negative. In your case, the HIV test result is negative even at 150 days after the exposure, which is sufficient time to cover the window period. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, any HIV test done through any method, 12 weeks after the last exposure, can be considered conclusive. I hope this information helps you. Please feel free to ask further queries.

Best regards.

Patient's Query

Okay doctor,

Thank you for answering my query.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As all your reports are negative, it can be taken definitive and there is no need for any further testing.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Can we also conclude the results for Hepatitis B and C, sir? Additionally, I have been experiencing some symptoms, such as hypnic jerks, when I try to sleep. It feels like shivering is passing through my body, and I experience occasional jerks during this time. Furthermore, I feel a burning sensation at certain points on my body, like in my feet, but there are no visible pimples or rash. Sir, if you are comfortable, may I explain my situation in telugu?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, you can explain in your mother tongue. The symptoms that you have mentioned have no relation to HIV. Also, Hepatitis B and C status beyond four weeks can be taken as conclusive.

Regards.
