How to treat high cholesterol levels and fatty liver?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My liver is normal in size of 16 cm with moderately increased echogenicity of parenchyma (Grade I to II fatty changes) suggestive of mild hepatomegaly. There is no evidence of any solid or cystic intra-hepatic lesion. The portal vein and hepatic veins appear normal. There is no evidence of any dilated intra or extra hepatic biliary radicals. Kindly provide your thoughts on this.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You have fatty liver. It is a common condition due to the modern lifestyle, junk foods, high cholesterol, and obesity. Follow the steps below:

1. Check your serum cholesterol level and blood sugar level.

2. I suggest tablet Ursodeoxycholic acid (anti-cholesterol) 150 mg for fatty liver.

3. Drink lemon juice.

4. Eat more green leafy vegetables and fruits.

5. Restrict junk foods.

6. Do regular exercise and maintain an ideal body weight.

Thank you.
