Hello doctor,
I have a hiatal hernia, I am wondering if protein shake hurt my hernia. The pain is usually mild and comes and goes. Recently, I have been not feeling too well, and my hiatal hernia pain become moderate and doest really go away. I am currently on Rabeprazole and Motilium.

You have a small hiatus hernia and it has no specification association with proteins shake. Your report also shows chronic gastritis which also adds to your discomfort. This issue usually improves with medications but recurs after some time.
My recommendations will be some changes in your medications for some time and then will readjust and down titrate again. Meanwhile, you need some precautions as well.

Welcome back. 1 .Your hiatal hernia is small one. It is not bad at all by itself but it causes you regurgutation and reflux which causes your symptoms. 2.Protein rich diet can increase acid secretion in stomach more thats why it can cause symptoms in some peoples. 3. These are the things which you should avoid or do. >Avoid late night eating, >No eating 2 hours before bed >Decrease Coffee intake >Avoid Smoking >Drink plenty of water >1 Hour regular Excercise >Elevate head end of your bed by 5 Inch. 4.Take the above prescribed medications regularly and it will help out in this issue. 5. Your Hiatal hernia disturb you but you have to worry much as in long term it is not dangerous. Thank you. Incase of any further querry, you can ask anytime.
