Are painful and foul-smelling boils under the breast, armpit, and groin suggestive of hidradenitis suppurativa?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have painful and foul-smelling boils under my breast, armpit, and groin. They burst spontaneously and leave a dark scar. The complaint started when I got my first period. They have remained dormant for many years and now have begun to re-appear. I had epileptic attacks in the past, with my last seizure being 15 years ago. I have used the tablet Enchorate Chrono 300 mg twice a day in the past. Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. You have hidradenitis suppurativa. I suggest you get a gram stain of the pus done. Also, lose weight if you are overweight and quit smoking if you are a smoker. I suggest you follow the below treatment plan. Use Ketostar soap (Cetrimide and Ketoconazole) twice a day for bathing. Use Ointment T-bact (Mupirocin) twice daily on the lesions in the armpit, navel, perianal, and perivaginal area for ten days. Take Capsule Doxycycline 100 mg once daily for a month if the condition does not improve with the above treatment. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the response. Are the medications available OTC (over-the-counter)?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can find the above medicines or the medicines with the same composition mentioned above at your place. I hope this helps. Thank you.
