Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am breaking out around my groin and vagina. I have never had an unsafe sex. So, I do not think it can be an STD. I am on a birth control pill. I have attached images for your reference. Kindly suggest treatment?

Answered by Dr. Sushil Kakkar

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and I have viewed the images (attachment removed to protect patient identity). I see inflammatory and swollen nodulesand scarring from the healed lesions. This could be hidradenitis suppurativa which is characterized by recurring inflammatory nodules and scarring in the groin and scarring in the other apocrine gland-rich areas like axilla, breasts, areola, and buttocks. I would like to know how long have you been having these breakouts. Do you smoke? Hidradenitis is more common in females and in smokers. Are there any other involved areas like axillae, breasts, and buttocks?

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
