What can be the cure for the break outs around my groin and vagina?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am breaking out around my groin and vagina. I have never had an unsafe sex. So, I do not think it can be an STD (sexually transmitted disease). I am on a birth control pill. I have attached images for your reference. Kindly suggest treatment.

Hi,

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I understand your concern and will try to help you with it.

I understand your concern and I have viewed the images (attachment removed to protect patient identity). I see inflammatory and swollen nodules and scarring from the healed lesions. This could be hidradenitis suppurativa which is characterized by recurring inflammatory nodules and scarring in the groin and scarring in the other apocrine gland-rich areas like axilla, breasts, areola, and buttocks. I would like to know how long you have been having these breakouts. Do you smoke? Hidradenitis is more common in females and in smokers. Are there any other involved areas like axillae, breasts, and buttocks?

Thank you for consulting me.

You can always reach me at icliniq.com.

Regards.
