Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have two cysts, one under either arm, and they hurt really bad and have been growing in size. I cannot move my arm without it hurting me. I have tried both hot and cold compresses, and neither has helped relieve it. This time, I have had them for a week, but it has only been hurting for a couple of days. I have been getting cysts like these in my armpits for over a year now. Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As per the history you have provided, cystic lesions on the underarm areas are termed hidradenitis suppurativa, which is usually an infection produced in areas where sweat and sebum secretions are more. It may be on and off and requires antibiotic treatments and removal of cysts by a professional in person to reduce its appearance. I would like to advise you to consult a surgeon instead of a dermatologist in person to remove the cystic lesions for better healing and take oral and topical antibiotics for the same post removal of the lesion. The doctor will also take swab tests of the area in case of visible secretions to look for antibiotic sensitivity for prescribing the right medication. Kindly do not delay. Stay happy, healthy, and safe.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
