Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I recently got some pathology tests due to high blood pressure. My doctor has requested a liver scan. Should I get it done?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your reports. All your reports (attachments removed to protect patient's identity) seem to be normal. Do you have any symptoms? Was the blood pressure done once or multiple times? Do you have a family history of hypertension, diabetes, thyroid illness, or any other disease that you know? Do you snore while asleep?

I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

I do not think I have any symptoms of anything, blood pressure was recorded twice on the day and was lower the second time. I do not believe I have a family history of any of those. I do snore, however. And there is nothing wrong with my blood test results at all?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Blood reports are normal for your age. Minor abnormality in LFT could be due to your weight. No intervention requires it. Usually, BP has to be monitored frequently in a gap of 2 to 3 weeks and at different time intervals (morning and evening). If BP is higher for age at all or most instances, then the investigation should start to identify the cause, especially for someone as young as you. My suggestion is to repeat the BP after about a week. If it is consistently high, then go for further investigation. As your weight is on the higher side, you naturally tend to snore. Try to sleep on the sides rather than lying flat. The definitive thing to reduce it is to reduce your weight. Considering your height, the ideal weight for you is about 165 pounds. Reduce weight gradually and under supervision.

I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
