Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a virgin, and I want to know how a non-virgin vagina looks like because I feel like my hymen is torn. Can I see a hole inside if my hymen is broken? Or if I still have my hymen, can I see a membrane instead of a hole? There is a membrane inside 0.7 to 1 inch. But I could not see a hole in the membrane. There is no issue when I am on my periods. I want to clarify whether my hymen is still present or it is torn. Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your concern and will surely help you. There is no difference. As you have rightly said, it is a membrane. So do not worry, you are still a virgin. You may have to visit a gynecologist if in case you want to get yourself checked. There are tests, but even if the hymen is broken, it need not be necessarily due to intercourse. It may be due to swimming, gymnastics, some other physical activity, etc. Even if it is torn, it can be corrected. So do not worry. Feel free to ask any questions or to share any additional information. Thank you.
