Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been suffering from hyperhidrosis since my childhood. But in my teenage years, it increased, especially in my palm and feet, and a lot of sweat formed. As a result, I feel embarrassed whenever I shake hands with someone, which lowers my self-confidence. I heard that iontophoresis is a good treatment for this problem.

Does this treatment works in my case?

Please help me to increase my self-confidence and not feel embarrassed in front of people.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

From your query, it seems you have palmoplantar hyperhidrosis. It is essential to rule out causes like anxiety and hyperthyroidism for hyperhidrosis. Other causes may also be present.

I suggest you visit a physician to get adequately examined and tested.

There are various treatment options, like iontophoresis, which a dermatologist can do. It is a galvanic current that stimulates and narrows the sweat pores. This procedure is especially effective for palms and feet. Topical Aluminium chloride lotion can be applied overnight for two or three months. Botox injections in case of neural dysfunction can also be tried.

I hope it could help you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
