Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was looking at an almost healed canker sore under my tongue and noticed the following whitish purple lines. Are they cause for concern?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your question and picture (attachment removed to protect patient identity). I can understand your concern. No, there is nothing to be worried, it is a normal junction between the tongue and floor of the mouth. In your case, it seems it is a little bit hyperkeratinized may be because of some stress. With age, this line gets some pigmentation and becomes appreciable but there is nothing to worry. Please answer the following:

If you are a smoker or taking any other sort of tobacco? Also, if there is any hard swelling below your chin or jaw? Take multivitamins once daily for a month.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am not a smoker. Do take a multivitamin but not every day. Three is no hard swelling but have had issues with teeth grinding although better in recent years.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No, nothing to worry. These are normal striations. As I earlier said, take multivitamins for a month once daily and avoid too much citrus fruits and hot meals for a month.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
