How to brighten skin and get rid of pimples?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My face is becoming dark, but my remaining body looks brighter, and also I have a pimple problem. I need to regain my natural color. My skin type is oily skin. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Skin tanning is a side effect of excessive sunlight exposure. Indian skin is very prone to get tan. I suggest you few treatments and precautions in a point-wise manner:

1. Avoid direct sunlight exposure as much as you can. Wear sunglass and caps and cover the exposed part of the body all the time.

2. Use sunscreen thrice a day, like at 10'O clock, 12, and 3'O clock all over your face. Sunscreen SPF (sun-protection factor) should be around 50.

3. Use anti-pigmentation cream like Kojic acid, Hydroquinone, Depiwhite cream (Aqua, Alkyl lactate), etc. over pigmented parts.

4. If tanning is deep and too much, then the ideal treatment is glycolic acid peels. Sittings of six to eight peels must be required.

5. Never stop sunscreen even if tanning goes off.

6. Rule out thyroid, diabetes, and obesity. All three factors help in tanning a lot.

Pimple is somewhat hormonal and due to oily skin. I suggest the following:

Do not use hair oil or any sticky cream on the face. Avoid oily food, chocolate, and milk products. Avoid dust, and use sunscreen (above 30 SPF). Any cream, do not rub it on your face. Do not use any steroid creams. Continue treatment for at least one month. Facewash or soap is not a treatment and is not much useful. Do not touch acne, and avoid pressing it.

For treatment, I suggest you use the following:

  • Clindamycin (Clintop, Faceclin, and Cleargel). This is more preventive and curative. So, I tell patients to use it all over their faces in the morning.
  • Adapalene gel (Adalene, Defferine). I suggest you use it over acne at night.
  • Tablet Doxy (Doxycycline) 100 mg once a day.

I hope this addressed your concern.

Kind regards.
