Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

The patient is my wife. She is 30. She is seven months pregnant. This is the second pregnancy. She complains of pigmentation points on cheeks and hair loss increased as pregnancy is progressing. Her diet is alright. Endocrine reports are fine. Face pigmentation and hair loss is causing a lot of concern for her. Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have noted your concern and I have viewed the images (attachment removed to protect patient identity). I suggest her to use a broad spectrum sunscreen such as Sunstop 30 or Suncros soft sunscreen. Reapply every two to three hours throughout the day. At night, she may apply Aziderm (Azelaic acid) 20 % cream on the affected areas. Rub it in gently.

For hair loss, I suggest her to continue with Iron and Folic acid supplementation. In addition, she may use Bontress hair serum on her scalp, twice daily. Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanking you again.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I suggest you use the above medication for at least four to six weeks and then follow up. Results are gradual and may take four to six weeks to become noticeable. Moreover, considering that she is pregnant these are safe medications for her.

Regards.
