Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old female with a height of 5 feet and a weight of 103.6 lbs. My grandfather suffered a heart attack. I have been afraid of having the same condition since that day. I was depressed for 15 to 20 days as a result of this medical issue. Even after four months, I still have the same concern since I have been experiencing discomfort in my chest since last month. Is this a psychiatric issue, or should I see a doctor?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The worry and mild shock, along with your fear, result in a syndrome known as health anxiety. You look anxious about your health. Hypochondria is a preoccupation with the possibility of having a significant but undiscovered medical illness. Health anxiety is not a major mental condition, but if not treated properly, the individual might become sad and have bad thoughts all the time. Online counseling, cognitive behavior therapy, and relaxation treatment are all options. You must understand that these are your only options for rehabilitation; therefore, you must exercise prudential thinking.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
