Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a white spot on my head due to a small injury that happened approximately two years ago. It does not hurt nor cause any problem. Is it vitiligo?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Are the hair in the spot white or normal black? White spots on the head may be due to post-inflammatory hypopigmentation or vitiligo. Both do not hurt. Please send two or three clear photos to enable proper diagnosis.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached the photos.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the photographs (attachment removed to protect patient identity). As you told, the lesion is present for two years. I can appreciate the hair follicles within the affected area are black. Is the white patch stable, or is it increasing in size, number, or color? Is the white color present for two years? It seems to be post-inflammatory hypopigmentation, which has occurred due to the injury. Please answer these questions.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, white patches in the affected area has black hair and it is stable.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the photos (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It is not vitiligo. It is post-inflammatory hypopigmentation.

Treatment plan

You may take the following treatment for improvement. Use Flutivate (Fluticasone) lotion once daily in the morning and Tacrovera (Tacrolimus) 0.1% gel once daily at night.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

One online doctor suggested the use of Melbild solution, and I have this scar for more than a year.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Melbild lotion can also be used. It helps in giving back color to the affected area. Along with the above treatment, you may apply Melbild during day time.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Please review my attached photos and suggest what I should use for these white patches.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the photos again (attachment removed to protect patient identity). They are similar to the earlier photos. The scar is approximately one year old. You can use Flutivate lotion once daily in the morning and Tacrovera 0.1% gel once daily at night. You may also use Melbild lotion during the day time over white patches. I cannot find any other scars in the photos. I can only see few small white spots. You can apply the same treatment as above. Use it for three weeks and then let me know the condition.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
