Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am in my late 30s and have hypothyroidism. I have very low facial hair, no chest hair, and my voice also did not change in my teen years. I think I have a very small penis and testicles, and they produce a meagre amount of semen.
Of late, I have not been able to feel an erection, even when I get up. Please tell me,
Do you think I can have a normal life?
Is there any way to deal with this?
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
You have a history of the following symptoms:
Very sparse facial and body hair.
No voice change during adolescence.
Small testes and penis size, low semen volume, and now reduced erectile sensation.
Taken together, these features raise the possibility that your testosterone status or pubertal development may not have been completely typical. While hypothyroidism can contribute to fatigue, low libido, and erectile difficulties, it would not fully explain all of the features you describe.
Your weight is also quite low for your height, which may further affect overall health and hormone balance. I would recommend a hormonal evaluation, including:
Testosterone (morning sample).
LH (luteinizing hormone).
Prolactin.
Estradiol.
A repeat thyroid profile to ensure your hypothyroidism is adequately controlled.
Depending on the findings, further assessment of testicular size and fertility may also be helpful. The fact that you are still noticing erections, even if they feel reduced, suggests there may still be preserved function.
I hope this information helps you.
Feel free to ask if you have further queries.
Thank you.
