Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 28-year-old female. I have been off the pill for around six months now, with regular periods since. This month, I started bleeding six days before I expected to, and today is day three, and bleeding is minimal. I have taken a home pregnancy test with a negative result.
Would there be a reason for my early bleeding, or would this be an implantation bleeding, and if so, should I wait and take another test?
I am a little worried based on the regularity of my periods, and this being early.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Firstly, I have to assure you that you do not have to worry. As you have mentioned in your history, you have taken a home pregnancy test, which showed a negative result.
Home pregnancy tests are not entirely reliable. Therefore, I would advise you to get a urine pregnancy test done at a hospital to be 100% sure. It is normal to have menstruation six days before your expected date. Menstrual cycles do not always remain the same. It shows variations, and it is entirely normal to have menstruation even ten days before or after your expected date.
Also, it is normal to have spotting or less bleeding, which lasts for a short period of three days. Most women experience similar events. That is why I have to say that there is nothing to worry about concerning these aspects. As of now, you can go ahead and take a urine pregnancy test at a hospital.
I hope I have been of help to you.
Stay healthy, happy, and safe.
Thank you.
